Amazon Prime Air is seeking an experienced Certification and Airworthiness Manager to act as the primary interface with National Aviation Authorities, with a focus on Europe and the United Kingdom, in support of Drone System certification efforts. This candidate will manage the certification program, to enable safe and efficient commercial drone delivery operations for our customers globally.
Export Control License
This position may require a deemed export control license for compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Placement is contingent on Amazon’s ability to apply for and obtain an export control license on your behalf.
Key job responsibilities
• Support Prime Air executives in efforts to obtain Type Certification of drone systems
• Work with National Aviation Authorities (NAAs) to gain Drone System Certification
• Work with the NAAs to prepare the drone system list of Means of Compliance for the Type Investigation
• Partner with Subject Matter Experts to partner with the NAAs to develop Means of Evidence for the Type Investigation
• Liaise with Amazon public policy and legal teams on legislative and rule-making initiatives, environmental permissions, and certification processes for drones
• Contribute to the airworthiness key deliverables in the system readiness review cycles

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• 10+ years of relevant engineering experience in the Aerospace Industry
• 10+ years of experience with Aircraft Type Investigation process, with EASA or FAA
• Experience designing hardware from concept to certification
• Proficient in leading complex projects or programs involving flight test
• Proficient in analysis and decomposition of Safety requirements
• BS in Science, Engineering, or technology field, or equivalent industry experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• 15+ years of relevant Aerospace Industry experience
• 10+ years of relevant engineering experience with:
• 10+ years of SAE ARP4754A, Certification of Complex System
• 10+ years of FAR23/FAR25, CS23/CS25
• Drone Systems design experience, drone safety analysis and/or certification experience.
• Functional safety, systems safety and design assurance processes (e.g. DO-160/178/254, 1309 design analysis) experience.
• Proficient working matrixed organization and working with international teams/organizations
• Basic knowledge of Machine Learning algorithms
• Knowledge of challenges dealing with certifying autonomous systems
• Experience with Safety Assessment commercial tools
• MS in Science, Engineering, or technology field, or equivalent industry experience
• Fluency in Spanish and/or Italian
