Strategy Manager / Financial Modeller – London – £Negotiable per day Outside IR35 – 3 month initially

Morson are proud to be partnering with a Global Sustainable Logistics Company looking to recruit a Strategy Manager to support the Global Strategy teamfor a period of 3 months initially, it’s likely to be extended and for the right person an excellent chance for the role to become permanent.

The position is Remote working, although candidates must be able to commute to London and possibly travel to New Mexico & Florida when required (all travel expensed by the company).

The company are looking for a Strategy Manager to:

• Establish the (quantitative and qualitative) facts regarding current stock asset flows between Latin America and North America
• Understand the constraints, barriers, and inefficiencies regarding stock asset flows between the 2 continents, and
• Identify solutions both regions can deliver that optimizes returns for the overall company Group.

Context for the project:

The company is a matrix organization with business units structured by geographical region supported by centralized corporate functions. It comprises 5 regional business units, 2 of which are Latin America (‘LatAm’) and North America (‘NA’). Each has its own P&L, leadership team, and processes.

The Global Strategy team is looking to build a common fact base on cross-border flows between NA and LatAm to identify practical solutions that make sense for the company as a whole. Aside from the project above, there is the possibility that this role will need to support some ad-hoc work from the Group Strategy team if required.

Main scope of work:

• Build the fact base, qualitatively and quantitatively; understand and communicate:
  • The net stock asset inflows or outflows for both regions
  • The impact of LatAm-NA cross-border stock asset flows on inventory levels
  • The benefits and costs of existing LatAm-NA cross-border flows to each region and overall
• Identify the barriers, limitations, and requirements for the movement of stock asset’s across the 2 regions
• Determine practical solutions to address the imbalance of stock asset volumes between LatAm and NA that make sense for the company business as a whole
• Identify next steps needed to make this practical and reasonable for both regions

Expected Outcomes:

• A well-structured data model providing a clear view of the financials of current cross-border flows, and summary of relevant insights and findings from the analyses
• A summary of our existing understanding of LatAm-NA cross-border flows and any gaps in current knowledge
• Practical, evidence-based solutions with estimates of financial impact
• Clear documentation of data inputs and assumptions used for modeling
• Emerging recommendations on next steps that are implementable for both regions
• Work with Global Strategy to determine and align on specific questions to focus on
• Plan and structure a financial model to support answers to these questions
• Determine data required for modeling and collaborate with stakeholders in the US and LatAm to gather and understand data sources, conduct analysis and test any assumptions
• Develop, iterate and refine the data model and inputs with NA and LatAm colleagues, and document the inputs and assumptions used for modeling
• Model the financials of current cross-border flows, and identify and summarize any useful insights or findings
• Communicate the findings and answers to the questions clearly to a range of stakeholders, including the Regional Presidents, and potentially the CEO
• Propose solutions to restore the balance of pallet flows and model the financial impact of various options / solutions
• Propose recommendations on next steps for both regions for implementation
• Support additional ad-hoc work from the Group Strategy team if required

Required experience:

• Current / former management consultant with at least 3-5 years of work experience and extensive experience in quantitative financial analysis and developing large data models
• Highly proficient with Excel, with experience of building financial models
• Experience communicating complex concepts in simple terms to a senior audience, orally and in writing (Word and PPT)

Desired:

• Experience with more advanced analytics packages (Python / R etc)
• Knowledge of supply chain and logistics would be a plus but not required
• Highly numerate and exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
• Exceptional data analysis / analytics capabilities, with the ability to develop complex data models using Excel
• Ability to work independently and effectively (across different time zones) to deliver outcomes and results
• Effective people skills

• Ability to draw insights and generate clear, actionable recommendations from data

Location: London/ Remote

Pay Rate: £Negotiable day rate OUTSIDE IR35
