Senior Planner – Build Birmingham Office Position Reports to: Planning Manager The Opportunity This is an opportunity for a Senior Planner, or Planner with a minimum of 5 years experience looking for their next step. The business is a highly established Main Contractor, providing a range of services in Building and Civil Engineering, across a range of sectors The Role As Senior Planner you would be responsible for the delivery of planning requirements for an allocated tender, project or part of a project, including related Quality Environmental and Safety elements ensuring that safety is not jeopardised whilst ensuring that all relevant Company Group & Sector Specific Procedures and Policies are met, in accordance with the Integrated Business Management System. Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities: Develop, demonstrate, and maintain the highest standards of offering from the Planning function in relation to accuracy, risk assessment and predictability of outcome. Support the development as necessary the Pre-Construction process to reflect changes in approach in quality management, technology usage, Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance. Support the strategic and day to day resource management so opportunities are effectively serviced to provide the highest quality offering. Support the ongoing Mentoring & Staff Development programme for all members of the Planning team to ensure all team members fulfil their potential. Promote a consistent and quality approach to staff management. Develop high functioning relationships with the Planners, and Preconstruction team to ensure the offering produced during the bid process is fully reflective of the overarching win strategy. Support and Contribute to all meetings through the Tender Plan its programme are executed, adhered to, and subsequently presented at settlement. Take an active part in the tender settlement and governance process to ensure that the outputs from the Planning function are accurately reflected and presented for review and sign off considering and advising the team of commercial considerations, risk identification, innovation and the potential for alternative solutions. Lead in the preparation of logic linked programmes to an agreed format to develop and embed a strong and executable win strategy within the offering. Prepare tender deliverables as required from the ITT using planning software package including gant charts, histograms, cash-flow forecasts, clear and concise logistics, construction methodology, sequence diagrams and design and procurement plans internal and submission purposes. Obtain feedback from sites regarding output data, alternative methods of construction or techniques, alternative methodologies, temporary works and site logistics to ensure detailed and accurate programmes are developed in conjunction with Operational input. Maintain internal knowledge bank of key outputs for use in tender programmes. Take a lead role in the management of key Supply Chain Relationships to ensure resource visibility is tied into on site delivery, validate methodology, approach and mitigate programme risk. Prepare detailed schedules and obtain quotes for scaffolding, tower cranes, temporary works, project cleaning and any other temporary works as required. Lead in the preparation of the tender preliminaries workbook. Review the preliminaries logic and associated tender programme with the sector regional Operational team prior to presenting at the tender settlement meeting. Following a Contract Award, prepare with the Project Manager / Operations Director the Contract/Master programme. Create files within the Project folder structure. Initially based on the Contract/Master Programme, create the base Target programme within the Project folder structure. Assist the Project Manager to develop this programme as necessary. During a Project lifespan assist in the preparation of monthly Contract/Master programme and target programme updates producing suitable reports for internal and external presentation. Provide planning assistance and support to Project Teams. Skills/Experience required: You will require at least 5 years experience in a build planning role, with working knowledge of Asta Powerproject, directly for a main contractor.
