We are looking for a Personal Assistant to join us in supporting two Deputy Directors covering in HM Treasury’s Business and International tax (BIT) group, in the VAT and Excise and Strategy, Devolution and Cross-cutting teams.
The VAT and Excise team is a flexible, friendly and fast-paced team at the heart of HMT’s tax agenda. The team provides ministers with policy advice on VAT, insurance premium tax, alcohol duties, tobacco duties, gambling taxes and the Soft Drinks Industry Levy. Together, these raise over £180bn a year
The Strategy, Devolution and Cross-cutting team (SDX) works across BIT to support and develop critical thinking about the business tax system as a whole, to lead on cross-cutting projects and to act as a source of expertise and engagement on tax devolution policy. Team members fulfil a mix of standing and project roles because we also provide the group with a flexible resource to be deployed to priority areas of work as needed.
Key accountabilities
Excellent PA support is essential for the BIT Senior Management team. You will have the opportunity to work with a high degree of autonomy and flexibility.

What you’ll bring to the role
We are looking for someone with experience of providing personal assistant and administrative support to senior officials in a fast paced office environment. Excellent Microsoft Outlook skills and familiarity with other MS Office applications is important. You’ll have a keen eye for detail and be confident at effective communication with a wide range of people. Lastly, you’ll be comfortable working both collaboratively and under your own initiative.
