Do you want to work on exciting, cutting edge legal issues and help shape the Amazon Store shopping experience? We are looking for a lawyer to support our rapidly growing and evolving Consumer Engagement and Marketing businesses across Europe, the UK, and Turkey. You will be a key member of the teams developing innovative, interactive and engaging marketing and promotions in the Amazon Store, helping customers discover new selection on offer and find the brands and products they already love.
You will work directly with product engineers, marketing managers, user experience designers and others, providing advice on a brand range of topics, including consumer protection, intellectual property, and privacy matters. You will also work directly with business development teams to negotiate technology service arrangements with key search engines, social media networks, and other media owners. In addition, you will team up with Amazon lawyers based across Europe, the UK, and Turkey supporting other parts of our retail business, and collaborate on the best approach for customers shopping from those countries. You will help de-escalate legal disputes, partnering with our litigation and regulatory teams to define our dispute resolution strategy. In addition, you will be a thought leader on our outreach with regulators and policymakers across the region on consumer protection matters.
The successful candidate must be inquisitive, enthusiastic about technology, and passionate about building the best customer experience. The candidate should thrive in being continually challenged, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations.
We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
– Outstanding academic qualifications. Licensed to practice law in Europe, US or other common law jurisdiction.
– A significant amount of legal experience post admission with an international law firm and/or well reputed in-house team.
– Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English, as well as demonstrated proficiency in working closely with and advising senior executives of an organization.
– Ability to manage multiple projects at once, follow through and meet deadlines.
– Sound and practical judgment, even in ambiguous situations, and comfortable making high-quality decisions quickly and with limited information.
– Ability to work independently and contribute successfully to cross-functional, global team.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
– A background in retail, marketing or privacy is preferred.
