Starting Point Recruitment are seeking an experienced Road Freight Forwarder to join our client’s constantly evolving and expanding team based in Birmingham. As part of a wider European based business, our client has specialised in the Freight Forwarding Services, transportation, and customs clearance services industry since 1989.Working Instructions:The working hours of Road Freight Forwarder would preferably be 40 hours per week. Typical between 9am- 5pm and 8am to 4pm depending on business needs.Salary Expectation: £28,000 – £32,000 per annum based on experience.The duration of the Road Freight Forwarder role is permanent. Road Freight Forwarder within this fast-paced role you will play a vital part in managing the customers freight needs from start to finish.Your key responsibilities will include:

• Ensure all trailer exports are planned with regular departures to all destinations from all depots.
• Complete all Import/Export activities precisely and on time including financial, legal, and invoicing transactions and communicate with overseas agents.
• Managing client emails and discussing transport arrangement with hauliers.
• Manage and oversee the transportation of cargo by road.
• Monitoring, scheduling, and planning routes.
• Liaise with hauliers, negotiate rates, and prepare quotations.
• Providing excellent customer service establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, addressing their shipping needs and providing excellent customer service.
• Review and prepare all necessary shipping documentation, including bills of lading and customs clearance paperwork.
• Utilize tracking systems and software to monitor the movement of cargo, providing real-time updates to clients.
• Liaising with various departments to ensure smooth daily operation.
• Overseeing the management of sensitive, confidential, and legal documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations. (IATA, Customs/Freight regulations).
• Aspects of the role involve sales and generating new leads

Experience required:

• Proven experience of handling road freight forwarding export operations
• Excellent customer service
• Knowledge of legislation regarding import and export EUROPEAN freight knowledge is essential.
• Ensure that geographic knowledge is updated frequently to enable efficient and effective use of transport.
• Knowledge of customs systems and fright forwarding systems (Cargo Wise)
• Must have knowledge of how collections and distributions work within the UK an EU

Beneficial experience to support your application.

• Understanding any other freight forwarding systems
