Our client is a market leader in logistics and support services across the construction and infrastructure sectors in the UK. Consisting of 8 brands, it serves customers in support of creating tomorrow’s buildings and infrastructure. They are growing in their quest for continuous improvement and to consistently strive to raise the bar for the level of service we deliver to our customers. An exciting opportunity has now arisen for a Procurement Manager to join the team.

Post Overview:

Reporting to the Group Chief Financial Officer, the role will hold full responsibility for the centralised procurement team. The procurement team implement and manage the procurement processes across the Group, including all subsidiaries and project purchases.

The role is responsible for creating best value buying procedures as well as troubleshooting and implementing new strategies and procedures.

Key areas of responsibility and accountability:

• Oversee and line manage a procurement department of 3 people to ensure that the team are working at optimum efficiency and effectiveness and achieving best value purchases.
• Implement and manage supply chains for each company across the Group.
• Have a core understanding of each of the Group company requirements and ensure their supply chains are reflective of their needs.
• Implement effective supply chain procedures and strategies.
• Implement, maintain and report on cost saving strategies.
• Research and sample new products to ensure quality and pricing is maintained.
• Keep up to date with changes in areas of procurement; focusing on environmental and sustainable products.
• Audit and maintain supply chain to ensure they are meeting necessary standards required by our clients.
• Issue regular reporting to the Business.
• Run monthly reports to confirm turnaround in order production, number of orders placed per day, down time in order production.
• Report to the Finance Director of any changes in products, achieved cost savings or cost rises.
• Report any issues or concerns with suppliers.
• Negotiation of supplier trading terms and agreements.
• Work closely with operations and commercial team to ensure budgets are being tracked and monitored.
• Negotiate rates for high value products and services and ensure budgets are adhered to.
• Support with the bidding process for new work where necessary.
• Ensuring invoice queries are kept to a minimum and manage any high level queries.
• Become systems lead for the procurement team.
• Closely Manage internal stakeholder relationships.

Skills & Requirements :

• Experience in a procurement position within construction
• Experience using Xpedeon
• Experience of managing & leading a team
• Excellent negotiation skills
• Be able to maintain good client relationships
• Able to manage internal stakeholder relationships
• Previous experience in construction
• Happy to manage but all get stuck in when required.
