The role
LW Theatres are looking for an enthusiastic data engineer to join their data team in producing high quality data and insight for the business to base decisions on. This data covers a large array of theatre activities from ticketing, hospitality, programming, and retail sales, so gives you a chance to experience data in the entertainment sector. We’re looking for a data engineer who can come in and work on the end-to-end process of identifying business data needs, designing, and delivering data products.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone to gain data engineering experience in a company with strong data ambitions. We have an established data warehouse that we are constantly looking to improve, add to and modernise so this is a chance to be hands on and drive real change within the company.
The role would require to you to be self-sufficient and confident in working with numerous other departments across an array of subject areas.
What you’ll be doing
– Working with the wider Data Team to translate stakeholder requirements into new designs for new data products
– Working within LW Theatre’s Data team in the development and deployment of new data products to the organisation’s data warehouse
– Monitoring and maintaining the ‘BAU’ data warehouse jobs
– Implementing internal process improvements including re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, optimizing data delivery, and automating manual processes
– Designing and Building integrations to other business systems
– Maintaining technical and user documentation on our Confluence site
– Working with the wider organisation to improve its use of data, analytical tools, and programs.
– Ensuring systems meet business requirements and best industry practices
– Maintaining and updating disaster recovery procedures
– Implementing robust mechanisms to safeguard user data privacy
What we need
– Degree in Computer Science, IT, or similar field
– Knowledge of pushing data through to different storage locations, including SQL, and experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, etc.)
– Experienced in core SQL server database technologies, including administration, optimisation and general maintenance
– Strong knowledge of relational SQL databases and their design – Microsoft SQL Server a plus
– Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) to manage and schedule complex SQL server jobs and dataflows
– Good knowledge & Experience of APIs (including both SOAP and REST). Ability to develop code to retrieve information from online sources and transform and load to an SQL environment. Also generating files to load external APIs.
– Python coding experience including data manipulation and automating ETL tasks
Capable of capturing business requirements and turning them into a design
Other non-essential skills/experience that would be a bonus!
– Previous experience in a data engineering role
– C# Programming Experience
– Knowledge of Confluence and ability to produce clear concise documentation
– Knowledge e-marketing tools such as Dotmailer, Active Campaign, Adobe
– Experience managing Azure services is a plus, experience with other cloud based services such as AWS is also beneficial
– Knowledge of big data tools such as Kafka or Spark would be beneficial
– Knowledge of XML
