Catering Assistant

The role

Clifton Park Hospital currently have an exciting new opportunity for a Catering Assistant. Supporting our Chef’s and Catering Team you will serve meals to patients, prepare food in the kitchen facilities, serve over the tills and maintain the cleanliness of the working environment at all times.
We offer flexible working hours however this position will include weekends as required hours are 07:30 am-13.30 pm. Experience in health and safety is an advantage. Training will be given and a food hygiene / Allergy training course can be done on site if not already held.

Duties will include:

• Obtain food and beverage orders from patients, staff and visitors to the hospital
• Assist in the preparation and service of food to patients, staff and visitors to the hospital
• Clean on a daily basis all areas of the catering department to the agreed standard
• Ensure all areas of the kitchen/restaurant/Ward pantry/vending machines are fully stocked and cleaned as appropriate
• Ensure current health and hygiene regulations are adhered to in the preparation and service of all foodstuffs
• Use of till and restaurant tally sheets

What you’ll bring with you
• Experience in a catering environment
• Knowledge of food safety to complete level 2 course when in role
• Experience within a healthcare environment
• Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing
• Must be computer literate
• An ability to work independently and to manage own priorities and strict deadlines
• Flexibility, adaptability & initiative

Clifton Park Hospital which opened in 2006, is located just outside York city centre. The hospital has been rated Good by the Care Quality Commission and has 24 beds, two theatres, a day case unit, a large outpatients department with x-ray facilities and on-site physiotherapy, including a small gym area.
