Experienced Farm Trader – Feed & Raw Materials: Homebased with National Coverage

As a seasoned agricultural trader, play a central role in establishing this international manufacturer in the ruminant feed marketplace.

You’ll be free from any constraints and empowered to approach any potential customers you deem necessary. The commodity trading department works alongside all key stakeholders, internally and externally. Ultimately, you’ll be communicating directly with the end user, the farmer.

A key focus of the role will be to develop the company’s straights trading operation in order to increase market share in the ruminant feed (primarily dairy) sector.

The role is homebased while also positioning you at the centre of this reputable company.

Key accountabilities:

– Manage straights commodity positions

– Enhance returns/opportunities with position taking such as spreads, long, short etc

– Work across business functions (e.g. with manufacturing, logistics, commercial teams) to optimise efficiency within the straights trading operation

– Develop relationships with the principal local contacts in the raw material supply industry

– Keeping up to speed with market events and conditions (i.e. prices, weather, economic changes, shippers updates, currency etc)

– Focused prospecting

– Problem solving around logistical matters, invoice enquiries

– Processing sales orders and purchases

– Attend all relevant industry events and commercial meetings

Requirements:

– Relevant professional qualification

– Substantial, proven experience trading animal feed products

– Existing ledger

– Demonstrable ability to sell to farmers

– Clear negotiation and communication skills

– Flexibility to attend meetings and events where necessary

– Valid driving licence
