About the role Successful candidates will be responsible for preventing and responding to emergency situations across Haringey estates by removing hazards from them as well as providing barriers, warning signs, and arranging clearance of fire and flood debris. The role requires staff to carry out regular inspections of estates, identifying hazards, potential safeguarding issues and communal repairs. The role will be pivotal in ensuring communal areas are kept clear of potential hazards and fire risks. Staff will be integral parts of the service, providing cover for other teams within Estates & Neighbourhoods and will be integral in building better working relationships with residents to ensure the safety of our estates. About you The ideal candidate for this job should have prior experience in using cleaning materials and equipment and identifying repairs. Effective communication skills are a must-have at all levels, and the candidate should have the ability to deal helpfully and tactfully with all tenants and residents. The candidate should be able to work independently and as a team member, with a basic knowledge of maintenance and cleaning equipment. Basic handy person skills such as manual handling and electrical awareness are desirable, as is an awareness of the needs of vulnerable groups in the local community. Candidates should have a clean driver s licence and be able to drive a van. We will also consider candidates that do not have a driver s licence but can carry out deep cleaning work. About the team This role is part of a proactive team that works with a variety of other teams within the Estates & Neighbourhoods Service, as well as other services across Housing. The team work closely together and engage with the local community to safeguard them from potential hazards on our Estates. The wider team work to uphold and improve standards on our Estates and across the wider Neighbourhoods they are in, to provide residents with a safe and pleasant environment to live in
