Organisation Information:

Bouygues Travaux Publics (TP) and Laing O’Rourke, two of Europe’s most dynamic engineering and construction specialists, are working together in a joint venture named BYLOR to deliver the main civil engineering works at Hinkley Point C (HPC) worth over £2.8 billion.

Within the scope by BYLOR is a Design & Build Building known as the Operational Service Centre (OSC) which is a multi-use office building with laboratories, restaurant and warehouse. BYLOR requires experienced package managers to look after the multitude of building packages within the OSC scope.

Purpose of the role:

A Package Manager is required to manage specific Tier 2 and Tier 3 trade contractors.at both the tender stage and delivery stage. The Package Manager will input into the procurement stage then through to managing their activities on site during the delivery phase. Monitoring compliance with HPC quality, Health, Safety & Environmental standards is a vital part of the role. The role will include the handover of the Tier2/3 trade contractors including Lifetime Quality records (LTQR) and as-builts.

Key responsibilities and specific accountabilities:

• Management of Tier 2/3 packages-this may be multiple packages depending on the duration and contract sum of the packages
• Specifically, regular progress meetings to review production, safety and quality concerns/compliance
• Review and input into Work Package (WP) schedule-coordinating with WP Planner
• Reviewing and interrogation of the design against other interfaces, design briefs, design standards and raising technical queries to the design team
• Input into scope of works for unlet packages and review of works information during the procurement phase
• Attendance to design workshop, procurement meetings and planning meetings
• Produce works information registers and administer change management (design and commercial)
• Work with commercial department to assess application for payments and scope variations
• Ensure compliance with contract to deliver (on site) compliant construction activities
• Coordinate with the client (NNB) for mandatory safety and quality requirements
• Weekly reporting to the client and project manager regarding progress of your responsible WP
• Coordinate with LTQR team to ensure successful and compliant handover of your responsible packages

Essential skills & knowledge:

Technical Skills:

• 5 years+ experience in Building projects with MEH/MEP experience-essential
• Good Organisational Skills
• Strong commercial awareness
• NEC contract knowledge
• Civil Engineering and/or Project management Qualification- degree Level or equivalent
• Self-motivated with good time management skills
• Design coordination /technical query experience
• Strong experience in quality controls and quality assurance

Interpersonal Skills:

• A strong communicator with the ability to inspire, challenge and motivate others
• Ensures timely decision making
• Seeks to minimise waste in resources and materials
• Able to build an effective team and manage others, leading by example
• Presents a professional image and promotes the values of the project

• Earthing and Bonding
• Audio Frequency induction loop system
• BMS
• DTV
• ICS

Education & Qualifications:

• Must hold a degree in Civil Engineering/Project Management/Construction management or equivalent
• SMSTS
• PRINCE (desirable not essential)
• CSCS Managers

All positions with Bylor are employed directly with either Laing O’Rourke or Bouygues Travaux Public and include competitive salaries, private medical insurance, company pension schemes and annual holiday allowance. Some grades will also include a company car allowance.

Unless stated otherwise all positions are based at Hinkley Point C in Somerset.
