H9 Technical Recruitment are looking to hire an EC&I Engineer to work at my clients large Power Generation plant in North London to carry out site fault repairs and planned maintenance tasks

Role and Responsibilities:

• Be able to work to high standards within tight deadlines while maintaining safe systems of work at all times.
• To record in suitable detail the work carried out (eg: calibrations, readings and measurements taken, inspections & testing and any physical actions) to support audit system requirements and to aid the development of future maintenance strategies.
• On behalf of the Team Leader carry out the production of plant modification documentation.
• Operate within the levels of delegated budgetary authority.
• Manage assigned contracts and contractors to comply with Eon standards.
• Working with the site engineering management team to ensure that best practice is employed within plant area to achieve reduction of revenue and capital expenditure
• To provide supervision for contractors working within their plant area.
• Promote and maintain good housekeeping within all work areas.
• To provide Technical and safety advice within their plant area.
• Maintain calibration records of plant equipment in calibration database.
• Carry out calibration of site test equipment to traceable standards.
• Achieve a good level of understanding of the ADVANT DCS system.
• Carry out Routine and planned Maintenance tasks.
• Initial fault diagnosis and rectification of defects.
• Input and upkeep of histories within CMMS.
• Preparation of work instructions and risk assessments, verification/ updating of these.
• Identify spare parts requirements.
• Provide support to Operations Department.
• Carry out maintenance activities as directed by Responsible Engineer.
• To carry out all duties with a minimum of supervision.
• Manage external contractors and contracts

Main responsibilities:

• Implementing Engineering and Maintenance strategies, policies and procedures to achieve measured station performance as defined in the Business Plan and measured Engineering and Maintenance performance (financial, availability, efficiency, H & S, environmental etc.) to programme, budget and quality.
• Be conversant with, and ensure that the plant is maintained to, and complies with statuatory Written Schemes of Examination.
• Implementing initiatives to improve the management of site safety, contributing to the achievement of the company safety objectives.
• Liaison with Asset Management Group and Power Engineering Services on relevant issues when required to do so.
• Contribute to the annual AERO process.
• Delegated management of Outage work, ensuring work completed to programme, budget and quality.
• Assisting in the management of staff performance, training and development, morale, productivity, competence. Proactively participating in the AMP processes to agreed timescales.
• Advising on the requirement for, and preparing on behalf of the Team Leader, effective contract specifications.
• Positive contribution to Engineering and Maintenance team meetings and team briefing.

Skills and Qualifications:

• HNC or engineering craft based qualification in an appropriate engineering discipline to NVQ level 3 or equivalent with appropriate industrial experience.
• A good working knowledge of health and safety and environmental legislation and standards to NEBOSH/IOSH as appropriate, or equivalent.
• Carry out the role of a Nominated supervisor.
• Have a broad understanding of Power Station operations; including knowledge and experience of maintenance activities in an engineering skill enabling you to carry out the repair, and overhaul of a wide range of mechanical plant.
• Knowledge of current policies and procedures which affect the management of the Station and Energy Wholesale which are relevant to the role.
• Financial and commercial awareness associated with the activities of the role.
• Have a proven ability to identify and analyse situations by isolating key issues, evaluating relevant data and drawing the appropriate conclusions.
• Contract management training to be able to run a number of contracts which involve on site working to include the health, safety and environmental aspects as well as the commercial and technical issues.
• Planning and organising skills to include effective prioritising, resource management and a long term strategic focus.
• Trained and competent in safety assessment and work flow by producing such documents as risk assessments, method statements, manual handling, hot work assessments
• Demonstrate a proactive approach to the role by clearly identifying practical and effective means of improving technical, commercial or procedural aspects related to the role
