Discipline Manager – Technical Safety
Wood is looking to recruit an experienced Discipline Manager – Technical Safety with extensive experience in the oil and gas and petrochemical industries to join our Process & Energy business unit based in Stockton (preferred) but also open to Glasgow too. Experience in the Energy Transition sectors would be advantageous.
You will be part of the discipline leadership team to provide the safety framework within designs and projects. As a result of the Energy Transition in the UK and beyond, you will have the opportunity to develop the team and increase the skillset. You will require the drive and commitment to make a genuine difference to our performance on projects across the full life cycle, from studies and FEED to EPC, and to ensure that Wood continues to differentiate itself from its competitors by delivering quality projects to our client’s requirements.
You should have a strong leadership/technical skill and a background and understanding of process safety issues, inherently safe design and standard industry safety-related activities such as HAZOP, SIL/LOPA/ BAT ALARP and COMAH.
You will join the technical safety team which provides services to brownfield and greenfield projects across multiple sectors including Oil & Gas, refining, petrochemicals, hydrogen, bulk and fine chemicals and pharma. Services provided cover the whole life cycle, typically from concept to EPC, and operational support.

We are a UK company with a portfolio of projects ranging from small plant modifications, Concept, FEED and EPC type projects, through to execution of billion-pound projects across the globe. You will have the opportunity to either work locally in the UK, at any of our site offices or to take assignments in other parts of the world to allow you to develop and try out new cultures and even learn a language.
We have 3 different business units across the UK and across the world, Consultancy, Projects and Operations so the opportunities within our company are huge and there are numerous career opportunities to grow, do something different or to progress your career in your chosen are of expertise.
We are very focused on the energy transition and our Operations business focuses on supporting UK and Norwegian Clients with site-based engineering and construction support, as well as small and medium-sized projects up typically less than £200m. Our projects team, takes on larger projects, many of which are in the middle east and beyond. The Consultancy team support many Clients in the Renewable Sector and with early business modelling to help Clients make decisions in the journey to decarbonise.
