The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) is continuing an ambitious transformation that brings together diplomacy and development. Their mission is to to lead the UK in influencing and inspiring the world, building a network of liberty, rooted in economic and development partnerships, technology leadership and security ties, for a stronger Britain and stronger world, promoting the Best of Britain internationally, countering malign influence, promoting freedom and democracy and deepening the UK’s enduring ties with our allies
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has altered the wider geopolitical landscape. It has changed the context of the work of the FCDO to achieve UK objectives. As a result, the FCDO has reorganised its leadership, including establishing a new Director General position with the explicit role of leading its development and humanitarian work, initially focused on the Ukraine humanitarian crisis and refugee flows. This is at a time of significant change, the building of a new organisation following the merger of the FCO and DFID, the UK’s exit from the EU, the Russia/Ukraine crisis, the publication of the Integrated Review and the continuing challenges related to Covid-19.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We are looking for someone with the drive and determination to maintain the UK’s position as a leading humanitarian donor and development actor by;
You do not have to have worked in the Civil Service before – if you have a proven track record of transformation and delivery (within UK and International settings with a focus on challenges related to this portfolio) within a large scale, matrix organisation combined with excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, we would love to hear from you.
This is a full-time role, but we will consider flexible working arrangements. You can be based in either London or East Kilbride. Diversity is vital to the success of this role and to the Civil Service as a whole.
