DevOps Manager – Onsite 1x a week (Wrexham)
£60,000 – £80,000 + Bonus
As a DevOps Manager, you will form a pivotal part of the business. As a data-driven company, DevOps is key to ensuring that we can make our customers better off and push our use of technology further every day.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage team of highly skilled DevOps Engineers
- Establish and run DevOps Community of Practice defining and implementing best practices across the organisation
- Hire new members of the team and mentor them to become great engineers
- Manage delivery of DevOps projects and initiatives with cross organisation involvement
- Define, build and support software and infrastructure delivery pipelines and processes
- Improve observability, standardised logging mechanisms across all environments adjusted for sensitivity and duration requirements
- Infrastructure cost management through right scaling environments and vendor cost optimisations
Essential Skills & Experience
- Built on AWS you’ll need in-depth knowledge and experience in a wide range of AWS services, for example S3, EC2, ECS, AWS Fargate, Parameter Store, CodeDeploy, CloudWatch, DynamoDB, Redshift, Cognito, AWS Lambda, Step Functions and many more.
- Proficient understanding of Jenkins, Terraform, AWS CDK, AWS SAM leveraging IaC/CloudFormation
- Proficient understanding of CI/CD processes
- Proficient understanding of AWS best practices (ie AWS Well-Architected Framework)
- Proficient understanding of IAM roles/policies/permissions
- Good Python skills – in both writing and best practices
- Comfortable working with version control (including code reviews, branching, release management)
- Knowledge of RESTful APIs – both for using first/third party APIs and building our own for first/third party consumption
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Strong SQL and experience with data warehouses
- One or more AWS certifications
- Experienced at TDD – writing Unit Tests and E2E tests
- Understanding of how to architect resilient, highly available and efficient data pipelines
- Understanding of exception handling and error management implementation
