Someone to work across the local community to raise income, support and awareness of the work of the Hospice through community activities, hospice, local community and challenge events.

St John’s Hospice first opened its doors in 1984 with 10 inpatient beds in St John’s Wood. In the almost 40 years that have followed their community and services have grown, enabling them to support more than 4,500 people each year. At St John’s they celebrate and amplify life, enabling people to live well for as long as possible. They create moments of joy and compassion and work to ensure that each of their patients and their families are supported through every aspect of their journey. Their fundraising department is responsible for delivering 7 million of income every year to ensure the hospice can provide their quality, holistic care free of charge, and community fundraising plays an integral part in this. The Hospice are therefore looking for someone with the experience, passion and drive to help deliver a wide and exciting programme of events and campaigns, more details of which are below:

Role Responsibilities

• Working with the Senior Fundraising & Volunteer Manager to devise and deliver an effective community fundraising strategy in accordance with agreed targets.
• Run all logistics and deliver community events and campaigns. These include: annual Light up a Life event, Easter Trail, collection tins and mass participation third-party challenge events.
• Liaise with all event suppliers and participants in order to create profitable and awareness raising events.
• With the Senior Fundraising & Volunteer Manager develop a strategy and products to encourage schools, faith and community groups to support the work of the hospice and broaden their knowledge of the hospice services while raising funds to support it
• Lead the challenge event fundraising- Identify, develop and run a portfolio of challenge events including fundraising packs
• Support challenge event participants throughout their fundraising journey, ensuring they have a positive experience and reach maximum income.
• Working alongside young and/or vulnerable people. This role also requires a DBS check to be completed in order to work with these potentially vulnerable groups
• Confidently deliver talks and presentations to external parties and be able to show them around the hospice to encourage support and engagement
• Identify and build good relationships with local businesses to lead to sponsorship and additional support including Charity of the Year partnerships
• Develop fundraising knowledge to ensure that the team deliver an innovative and high quality programme of community, challenge and event initiatives which follow best practice
• Ensure that all activity is recorded accurately on the CRM and that relevant administration is completed on time
• Ensure all donors are thanked appropriately and in a timely fashion
• To support the Fundraising team in additional tasks as needed such as within the charity shop or with mass mail outs
• Working on some weekends and evenings will be required
