Your new roleHays Procurement are excited to be working on a new opportunity as a Category Leader for a forward-thinking and growing organisation within the South Yorkshire region. The Category Leader will be accountable for category strategy execution and enacting the end-to-end procurement cycle as per the departmental policies.As Category Leader you will create and deploy the integrated commodity / category strategies and the associated strategic sourcing and commercial activities. This covers ensuring adequate levels of contractual coverage and mitigation of commercial risk, optimising commercial advantage, providing security of supply and acceptable levels of liability. Where designated, you will lead the strategic relationships at a senior level creating value and competitive advantage.Responsibilities

• Strategy – develop, deploy and communicate relevant commodity /category / supplier strategies, providing a clear vision and strategic framework for the designated supply chain(s).
• Strategic Sourcing – planning, leading and negotiating sourcing and commercial activities to maximise the value proposition across all major commodities / categories.
• Where designated, select a supply chain capable of meeting quality and delivery requirements and ensure quality management and rectification.
• Lead long term cost improvement in line with business plans, including leveraging cost reductions across category group strategic spend commodities / categories.
• Effective top to top management of Supplier Relationships and strategic direction of partners and suppliers.
• Ensure that all Purchase Orders are created and released in a timely manner
• Work with suppliers to resolve any commercial claims, invoice queries relating to schedule changes and goods receipt.
• Provide feedback to suppliers of their delivered quality performance
• Identify all supplier risk areas

What you’ll need to succeed

• Degree-educated (or equivalent), MCIPS would be high advantageous
• Background within Manufacturing or Engineering would be preferable.
• Qualifications necessary in areas such as Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, Contract Management, Operations Management, Logistics
• Proven experience in category leadership, or similar role, with strong knowledge of category management and procurement best practices
• High level of commercial acumen and knowledgeable in contract law and developing complex supply agreements
• Strong and effective decision-making capacity, with the ability to interpret complex and multiple sources of information to make decisions
• Proven ability to improve processes to eliminate non-value adding activities
• Understanding of data analysis, forecasting methods, budget preparation
• Able to build and develop strong network relationships throughout the business
• IT literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, MRP/ERP, etc
