As Assistant Buyer you will be joining an innovative, cutting edge manufacturing company based in Oxford working onsite at their plant in Cowley. Supporting the Supply Chain Manager working s part of a small team. The role is full time, permanent and offering a salary of up to £34,000. Purpose of the Role: To facilitate the timely flow of materials to enable production and delivery of customer orders in a timely manner to the required company standards. Ensuring purchase orders and supplier orders are raised to meet with production schedules to avoid any delays. Key Responsibilities of the Assistant Buyer: Providing support to the purchasing function across the business Build, maintain and manage supplier relationships Raising POs using MRP system, including internal purchase requisitions Confirming receipt of orders placed with suppliers and delivery times will be met Ensuring all documentation required with goods is requested and received Maintaining records of expected delivery dates, notifying relevant parties of any significant delays Ensuring raw materials are received in time to meet production schedules, using expediting pressure as appropriate, advising on new delivery dates where circumstances when necessary Purchase goods, materials, components or services in line with cost Communicating with customers acknowledging orders, delivery and shipping Providing accurate up to date delivery reports to the sales department Maintaining supplier records on the database Communicating with internals teams to provide information to enable an effective service Maintaining trackers and spreadsheets of stock on a daily basis Assisting with planning and implementing Inventory Management Load sales orders into MRP and CRM systems Daily monitoring of any issues and taking preventative action Key Skills and Attributes for the Assistant Buyer: Experience within manufacturing or production purchasing and an understanding of purchase and supplier control processes would be an advantage CIPS certification or willing to work towards this Experience with an MRP, stock control and warehouse management systems is preferable Experience of purchase and warehouse management within a similar role High levels of accuracy and attention to detail Strong negotiation and communication skills Commercially aware, able to work on own initiative Excellent problem-solving skills Solid IT skills including all MS Office, particularly excel Organised administration skillsWhat’s in it for you?
