The Organisation

Our client, a UK-based leader in NHS wheelchair services, is fast-growing and entrepreneurial with private equity backing. Specializing in outsourced healthcare services, they enhance the lives and mobility of customers for various NHS/ICB clients nationwide.

We are seeking an experienced COO to join the management team under the CEO. Ideal for a current NHS Operations/Service/Commissioning Director or private sector healthcare Director aiming to advance their career.

Role and Responsibilities

The Chief Operating Officer will oversee operational performance, service delivery, and P&L across multiple sites for NHS clients. We are seeking an experienced individual at COO/Operational Director level with a proven track record in delivering major operational improvements, initiating cost reduction programs, and enhancing efficiencies. Strong emphasis on training and team development.

• Lead and execute the UK operations strategy, aligning IT and Procurement with business goals.
• Evaluate overall business performance through data analysis, collaborating with Executive Board and Senior Regional teams for implementation.
• Identify and analyse new business opportunities in alignment with the business model.
• Exercise control over materials spend and high-level cost management, including slow-moving and obsolete stock.
• Foster operational team success by providing leadership, resources, and accountability, ensuring adherence to legal and regulatory requirements.

Key Focus Areas:

• Operations – Enhancing performance in supply chain and organization-wide logistics infrastructure
• Contracts – Optimizing performance across all customer contracts

The Desired Applicant:

• Seeking a Chief Operations Officer with deep expertise in NHS/CCG or private healthcare operational performance, contract management, and service delivery.
• Highly desirable to have exposure to Private Equity.
• Director-level experience in both NHS and private sector healthcare organizations, with a focus on commissioning and/or providing services.
• Proven experience in strategy development and implementation, including high-level control of materials costs.
• Track record of delivering business cases, tender responses, and establishing monitoring systems for operational performance.
